With a driving rhythm and syncopated vocals that will pack any dance floor, Mama Hot is a joyous tune celebrating all precious things in life while also conveying a strong message warning of the climate crisis threatening our daily lives.

Medicine Drum (2019)

This is the story of a drum, a djembe from Ghana sent to Montana - a gift to the world given by two young boys from Accra, paying it forward, setting dreams in motion to find ‘the medicine’ in Cuba. This is the origin story behind CUBUSA music.

*Medicine Drum was funded in part by a 2019 Montana Arts Council Strategic Investment Grant

Sensual Blue Delight (2019)

The lyrics to this composition were inspired by astronaut, Neil Armstrong and others who shared profound observations of their home planet, Earth, from outer space and from the moon. Neil's granddaughter, Kali Armstrong, sings the lead vocals on this recording!

Building a Bridge (2015)

This was our first collaboration, an informal gathering of musicians recorded in their respective home towns of Santiago de Cuba and Bozeman, MT. This song first aired the day the Cuban Embassy opened in Washington D.C. on July 25, 2015.

Cuban Taxi (2017)

Our second song was originally written in a demo format and recorded in our Montana studio. Doug and Jake travelled to Havana to meet with Aquiles for a road trip from Havana to Santiago where they stopped and recorded additional tracks with over a dozen Cuban musicians along the way. These field recordings were brought back to Montana and the tracks were produced and mixed for final output.

For Just One Moment (2018)

This song was written from an American’s perspective of first experiencing Santiago de Cuba. With lyrics evoking the sensory experience, and the classic sounds of Cuba’s tres guitar, smooth and deep vocals create the romantic quality visitors often experience walking through the city streets.

Fender Bender (2020)

Cuban musician, Aquiles Jorge, is a classical guitarist on side "A", but on the flip side he's a rock n' roll rebel who loves America's favorite electric guitar.
